Beaches The nearest beach is 8km away at Victoria Bay. Wildernis Beach is 13 km away and Herold Bay 20km. Here’s a quick guide to the local beaches. In general, many of our beaches have strong currents and so you should take care and always try to swim in an area with lifeguards:
Victoria Bay: Our closest beach – fairly safe to swim. Lifeguards will be on duty. The beach area is very small - can get quite crowded so best to go early in the morning.
Herold’s Bay: A relatively small beach. Fairly safe but with a bit of a rip current if the sea is rough. Lifeguards will be on duty.
Kaaimans: a beautiful area. Limited parking. At low tide, the river forms a lovely beach and there’s a very picturesque train bridge.
Wilderness: There are lifeguards near Salina’s. A lovely long beach for a walk and a sundowner. Another popular swimming beach (with lifeguards) is Leentjie’s Klip – though probably best not to swim here if the seas are rough as it can create a rip current around the rock.
